Reverse Wiki

Wikipedia organizes knowledge around articles. Counterpedia organizes articles around governed knowledge.

A reverse wiki starts before the page. Sources, candidate propositions, evidence relationships, dispositions, and lifecycle state can exist before a public composition is eligible to render them. The article is therefore a projection over governed state rather than the act that creates that state.

NeoWiki puts a graph underneath a wiki. Counterpedia puts an admission system in front of one.

NeoWiki is a strong example of a schema-governed, graph-backed wiki designed for structured human and agent work. Counterpedia's distinction is not that graphs, schemas, provenance, or agent interfaces are absent elsewhere. The distinction is the separate governed-standing layer between assertion and public record.

The article moves to the end of the process

A conventional wiki starts with an editable page and accumulates citations, structured data, history, and graph views around it. Counterpedia starts with the record state from which a page may eventually be rendered.

The article is the end of the knowledge process, not the beginning.

Structured knowledge is not the same thing as governed standing

Schemas can tell a system whether a record is well-formed. Counterpedia needs another answer: whether a proposition has acquired standing in the governed record.

Which references are attached?

What proposition was proposed?
What evidence was considered?
What did that evidence establish?
Why was the proposition admitted, refused, held, reopened, or superseded?
What would change the current posture?

A candidate can be perfectly typed, sourced, attributed, and machine-readable and still fail to acquire admitted standing. That is not a schema error. It is a different kind of decision.

A successful write is not a successful admission

Reverse-wiki architecture separates permission to submit knowledge from authority to change the record.

The page is one projection

Record, Sources, Refusals, History, Machine, graph, and agent views should read the same governed state rather than competing to become sources of authority.

A missing statement is ambiguous. Counterpedia preserves a reason-bearing negative branch when the governed record represents one.

In Counterpedia, absence can have a reason.

Refusal records a disposition under an evidentiary and governance posture. It does not, by itself, declare the proposition false. That distinction gives the machine surface a kind of epistemic type safety that a simple present/absent flag cannot provide.

Counterpedia remembers decisions, not only edits

Text revision history and claim lifecycle history answer different questions. Reopening and supersession preserve the reason a current answer changed.

A later source can satisfy a condition recorded with an earlier refusal without erasing that refusal.

SUPERSEDE

A later proposition can become current while the prior state remains addressable through explicit lineage.

An agent or reader can ask what changed the answer rather than inferring it from prose diffs.

Sources become junctions instead of citation leaves

A normal encyclopedia naturally moves article → citation → source. Reverse-wiki traversal also treats the source as a starting point.

This is especially useful for source-heavy corpus construction. A source can be valuable before a long article exists because its identity, provenance, observations, claim relationships, and later consequences can already be navigable.

A citation is not the same thing as evidence scope

A source can support part of a proposition without licensing every stronger predicate an author or agent adds to the sentence.

“The company falsified test results.”

Source S does not establish

“The company knowingly falsified test results.”

The added word introduces an intent predicate.

Citation presence does not automatically establish proposition scope.

The graph is a peer projection, and GraphRAG is not the moat

Graph structure is valuable, but connectivity and inference must not silently become canonical standing.

Graph retrieval asks: what is connected?

Subgraphs, entities, relationships, and neighborhoods can give an agent better structured context than paragraph chunks alone.

Governed state asks: what is warranted here?

The claim can expose standing, evidence relationship, refusal history, supersession, and verification posture without claiming universal truth.

GraphRAG retrieves structure. Counterpedia exposes warrant.

Verification stays scoped and separately owned

Admission, structural recomputation, authenticity, signature checking, and publication are not one universal status.

The current public integration surface is read-only with respect to canonical standing. The advantage is not that an agent can write the same wiki field a human can write; it is that an agent can read durable distinctions such as claim identity, standing, refusal reason, reopening condition, evidence relationship, and verification posture.

The impressive part is not that an AI can answer the question. It is that the knowledge system had already preserved the answer to “why not?” before the agent showed up.

Nobody edited the encyclopedia sentence as the authority-bearing act. The governed state changed; the projection followed.

What is real today, and what this explainer illustrates

Reverse Wiki is an architectural/product model, but the public surface must remain precise about which parts are already represented in this repository.
